Fed:Record fall in export prices impacting economy, Swan says

Treasurer WAYNE SWAN says a sharp widening in the current account deficit reflects
the continuing impact of the global recession.

The treasurer's warning came after balance of payments data for the September quarter
showed an increase in the current account deficit to more than 16 billion dollars from
just above 13 billion.

Mr SWAN says the figure it reflects the dramatic impacts of the global recession ..

but forecasts infrastructure investments will help provide a strong basis for growth in
jobs and exports.
