NSW: Police drop a lesser charge against teenager

A Sydney teenager accused of plotting to blow up his former school has had one charge
against him dropped.

The 15-year-old boy from Dee Why faced Children's Court today .. accused of writing
a list naming students who bullied him .. and making plans to acquire bomb-making equipment.

Police say the boy planned to carry out the attack on April 5 .. believing it was the
anniversary of the US Columbine High School massacre .. and ADOLF HITLER'S birthday.

Both those events fall on April 20.

Police have withdrawn the lesser charge of threatening to destroy property with the
intention of endangering life.

The boy now faces the one charge of threatening to inflict grievous bodily harm ..

which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years jail.
