Fed: Aircraft fuel contamination reported a dozen times: AOPA

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association says more than a dozen instances of fuel
contamination have occurred in the past year.

About 5,000 small planes were grounded on Monday after an earlier grounding on Christmas
Eve, due to contaminated Mobil aviation fuel.

Association general manager MIKE HART says the fuel problem recurred throughout last year.

He says operators and aircraft owners believe that the contamination problem has occurred
spasmodically throughout the whole of last year.
