Fed: Theophanous released today because of lockdown

Disgraced former federal MP ANDREW THEOPHANOUS is being released from jail this afternoon.

THEOPHANOUS is the first federal MP to be convicted of taking bribes, and he's had
his sentence reduced because of industrial action in Victoria's prisons.

A Victorian prisons spokeswoman says sentences have been cut by four days for every
day prisoners are confined to their cell during a lockdown that started on Monday.
